How to Use the Online Football Scoreboard

  1. Choose a football rules profile and set the team names and colors.
  2. Create the game, then start or pause the Game Clock.
  3. Add touchdowns, field goals, safeties, conversions, extra points, or a custom score change.
  4. Update the Quarter, Down & Distance, field position, possession, and timeouts.
  5. Use Undo or Redo for corrections, play the manual horn when supported, or open the read-only display in Fullscreen.

American Football Scoreboard Features

Keep Home and Away scores with editable team names and colors, a Game Clock, four quarters, Down & Distance, field position, possession, and remaining timeouts. Undo, Redo, current-device Fullscreen, and a user-triggered manual horn are available for running and displaying the game.

Football Scoring Controls

Use +6 for a touchdown, +3 for a field goal, +2 for a safety or two-point conversion, and +1 for an extra point. A custom score adjustment handles corrections or formats that need another point value.

Game Clock and Quarters

Use the count-down Game Clock with Start, Pause, and Reset controls. The scorekeeper changes the game between 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Quarter manually. Reaching zero does not automatically change the Quarter.

Down, Distance, Field Position and Possession

Choose 1st through 4th down, set the yards to go or Goal to Go, update the ball's field position, and show which team has possession. The scorekeeper updates each of these game details manually as play continues.

Timeouts and Game Control

Adjust each team's remaining timeouts as they are used. The selected rules profile sets the starting allowance, while the halftime timeout restore remains an explicit, user-controlled action. The horn is also manual and never sounds automatically at zero.

Use It for Local Football Games

Use the board for youth football, school or high school games, rec leagues, club games, practices, scrimmages, and backyard games. It can also keep a simple flag football score when these controls fit the game format; it is not a flag-football rules engine.

Fullscreen Display

Open the read-only American football scoreboard in Fullscreen on the current device. Connect or project that device to a TV, monitor, or projector when you need a larger display without the scoring controls.

Football Formats and Rules

Setup offers four choices: Custom, NFL-style, NCAA-style, and Youth-style. These profiles provide practical starting settings; they do not imply certification, endorsement, or affiliation with any league or governing body. The scorekeeper remains responsible for selecting the profile that fits the game.

Undo, Local Saving and Recovery

Use Undo and Redo to correct scoreboard actions. When browser storage is available, the current game is saved in this browser and can be restored after a reload. Reset starts the current game over, while New Game removes the saved match and returns to setup. Clearing browser site data can also remove the saved game.

What This Scoreboard Does Not Do

The current version does not include a Play Clock, penalty or penalty-yard tracking, Overtime, automatic first downs, turnovers, ball movement, or extra-point workflows. It also does not provide drives, play-by-play, player statistics, cloud sync, a remote controller, a public viewer link, or an OBS overlay.

Is this for American football or soccer?

This page is for American football. For soccer, use the Soccer Scoreboard.

Can I track Down & Distance and the ball position?

Yes. Down and Distance are set together, while ball position remains a separate value. Neither one moves automatically.

Does it include a Play Clock, penalties, or Overtime?

No. The current version has one Game Clock and manual Quarter controls. Play Clock, penalty tracking, and Overtime are not included.

Can I show the scoreboard on a TV or projector?

Yes. Put the read-only display into Fullscreen on the current device and connect or project that device. This does not add remote or cross-device synchronization.

Does it save my American football game?

When browser storage is available, the current game is saved in this browser and can be restored after a reload. Clearing site data can remove the saved game; there is no cloud backup in this product.

Does the board advance downs or detect turnovers automatically?

No. The scorekeeper records Down & Distance, possession, field position, and scoring. The product does not infer first downs, turnovers, yards, or ball movement.
