Goals and Shots on Goal
Update each team's Goals and Shots on Goal independently. A goal does not add a shot automatically, and a shot does not change the score, so the scorekeeper stays in control of both team totals.
Game Clock and Periods
Use Start and Pause for the countdown Game Clock, or correct and reset the displayed time with the available controls. Regulation covers Periods 1–3. When the Clock reaches 0:00, Period completion becomes available, but ScoreMetrik never advances the Period silently—the scorekeeper confirms the next step.
Penalty Timers
Add a Minor — 2:00, Bench Minor — 2:00, Double Minor — 4:00, or Major — 5:00. Custom rules also allow a timer from 1 second to 60 minutes. Tracked penalty time runs only while the Game Clock is running and pauses with it. Expired timers remain visible at 0:00, and Penalty release remains under the scorekeeper's control through Release or Cancel.
Timeouts and Empty Net
Record each team's remaining timeouts and explicitly turn empty-net status on or off. These controls show the game information entered by the scorekeeper; they do not calculate goalie pulls, extra attackers, or on-ice manpower.
Use It for Local Ice Hockey Games
Use the scoreboard for youth, school, club, recreational, and local rink games, as well as practices, scrimmages, or informal pickup and pond-style games when the available controls fit the format. It remains a team-level scoreboard, not league or tournament management software.
Fullscreen Display
Fullscreen targets the read-only Hockey scoreboard on the current device. Show it on the same screen or a connected TV, monitor, or projector while setup, controls, and Undo and Redo remain outside the display.
Hockey Formats and Rules
Choose Custom for three 15-minute regulation Periods, one timeout per team, and optional explicit five-minute Overtime, or choose IIHF-style for three 20-minute Periods and one timeout per team. IIHF-style does not add event-specific Overtime and does not imply IIHF affiliation, approval, certification, or complete rulebook enforcement.
Undo, Local Saving and Recovery
Undo and Redo restore earlier scoreboard changes. The current game is saved in this browser when browser storage is available, so a reload can restore it. Clearing site data can remove the saved game, and New Game returns the product to Setup. This is local saving, not cloud synchronization.
Scoreboard vs Official Hockey Score Sheet
ScoreMetrik keeps team-level Goals, Shots on Goal, the Game Clock, Period, Penalty timers, timeouts, and Empty Net state together on the scoreboard. It is not an official score sheet and does not record goal scorers, assists, player numbers, goalie statistics, rosters, or a complete event log.
What This Scoreboard Does Not Do
This product is for Ice Hockey only, not Field Hockey, Roller Hockey, Street Hockey, or Ball Hockey. It does not calculate Power Plays or manpower, release a Penalty automatically after a goal, manage delayed or queued Penalties, run a Shootout, track player statistics, replace an official score sheet, or enforce competition-specific Overtime automatically. It also does not provide cloud sync, a remote Controller, public Viewer links, or OBS output.
Hockey Scoreboard FAQ
Is the hockey scoreboard free?
Yes. You can create and operate the local Ice Hockey scoreboard in your browser without signing up.
What does this Ice Hockey scoreboard track?
It tracks team Goals, Shots on Goal, the Game Clock, Periods, Penalty timers, timeouts, Empty Net state, and an explicit result.
Do penalties stop when the Game Clock stops?
Yes. Tracked Penalty timers progress with Game Clock playing time and remain stopped while the Game Clock is paused.
Does a goal automatically release a Penalty?
No. The scorekeeper records a Goal and any Penalty release as separate actions.
Can I use Overtime or a Shootout?
Custom rules can enable one explicit Overtime. Shootout state and automatic competition-specific Overtime are not included.
Does the scoreboard save the game?
When browser storage is available, the current game is saved in this browser. It does not sync the game to other devices.
Can I display it on a TV or projector?
Yes. Use Fullscreen for the read-only display on the current device or a screen connected to it.
