Using ScoreMetrik Offline
ScoreMetrik can save the current game in your browser, but it is not an offline-first app: a loaded tab may continue after a connection loss, but the next page load or navigation may still need a network. Offline availability is not guaranteed.
What Local Mode means
- No account is required.
- The current game can be saved in this browser when browser storage is available.
- Scoring, Undo, and Redo happen in the loaded browser page.
- Saved data is not automatically shared with another browser or device.
- Local saving does not guarantee that a route or its assets can load without a network connection.
What may continue after a connection loss
If a scoreboard and its current assets are already loaded, the current tab may continue to accept local controls while the connection is unavailable. This behavior is not guaranteed and should not be treated as a promise of offline availability.
Do not assume that refreshing, closing, reopening, or changing routes will work without a network. Browser storage and the loaded page are separate concerns.
What is not provided
- There is no service worker or offline navigation fallback.
- No PWA install guarantee or cached first-load promise is provided.
- Reloading and route switching may need a network; no automatic synchronization while disconnected is provided.
- There is no cloud backup or cross-device synchronization.
- There is no remote-control link, no public viewer link, and no user-facing live session.
Before a game
- Open the exact scoreboard you plan to use while the device has a network connection.
- Create or load the game in the browser profile that will be used at the venue.
- Verify the score, game progress, clocks where the sport uses them, team names, and sport controls.
- Test the read-only scoreboard display and fullscreen controls before leaving a reliable connection.
- Keep the scoreboard tab open while the game is in progress, and avoid refreshing or navigating away from it.
- Avoid private or incognito mode when browser persistence matters, and do not clear site data.
- Keep an independent official or paper record; also check device power and screen settings because ScoreMetrik does not control them.
If the connection is lost
- Stay on the already loaded scoreboard tab.
- Do not refresh, close the tab, or navigate to another route.
- Confirm that the visible controls still respond before relying on the current tab.
- Keep a separate official or written score and record any changes made while disconnected.
- Reconnect before trying to reload, reopen, or navigate to the scoreboard.
- If saved data is missing, check the same browser profile and the same site origin used to create it.
- If browser data was cleared or the browser or device changed, ScoreMetrik has no cloud copy to restore.
Saved data and deletion
- Confirmed New Game deletes the local game for that scoreboard.
- Reset is undoable and is not deletion.
- Explicit corrupted-data deletion removes saved data where that recovery is offered.
- Clearing browser site data can delete saved game data.
- Private mode, storage quota, browser cleanup, corruption, software changes, or device loss may remove access.
ScoreMetrik cannot restore data that was cleared, lost, or no longer available in the browser.
Browser and device limits
Fullscreen support and browser storage behavior vary by browser, storage policy, and device. Mobile operating systems may suspend or discard tabs. Private browsing, quota limits, cleanup, and device power or screen settings can also affect access. No browser is promised as fully supported for offline use.
Keep an official record
Do not rely on Local Mode or one loaded browser tab as the sole official match record. ScoreMetrik does not replace an official scorer, scorekeeper, referee, tournament desk, sanctioned-match rules, or an official record.
Current scoreboards
Why offline use is limited
ScoreMetrik does not currently install a service worker, cache every route for later use, or provide an offline navigation fallback. Open and test the scoreboard while connected, keep the working tab open, and maintain an independent record in case the browser discards the page or local data.
